what does alott stand for?
alott stands for ‘a little off the top’ – which is a well-known phrase in barbershops and hair salons. it also has the secondary meaning of unloading what’s on your mind – which is what many people do when they have a hair appointment. so also alott also stands for mental health, which is why we support local charity manchester mind (see below).
what products do you currently have?
currently we have a shampoo and a sea salt spray in our product range. we have more products due to launch in summer 2021, the first being our all-natural shampoo bar.
how should I store my products?
to maximize the shelf life of your products, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. once opened, shampoos can be kept in the shower but the shampoo bar should ideally sit in a soap dish between uses.
how long do my products last?
our products are chemical-free and have a guaranteed shelf life of 1 year – though many will last longer than that.
the product I want is out of stock. when will it be restocked?
our products are handmade in small batches which means we restock regularly. in the unlikely event a product is out of stock, please get in touch with us here and we will let you know when the product is expected back in stock. you can also go to the product page and click the NOTIFY ME WHEN AVAILABLE button to receive an email when the product is back in stock.
shipping
is shipping free?
we offer free shipping on orders over £25. orders under £25 will have a UK mainland flat rate cost of £3 via Royal Mail 2nd Class and the delivery time is typically 2-3 working days.
where do you ship?
currently we are only shipping within the United Kingdom. we are working on bringing alott to other places around the world as soon as possible.
how long will my order take to arrive?
we do our best to process and ship orders within 1-2 business days, and the delivery time is typically 2-3 working days.

what if my order has not arrived?
if your order has not arrived within five working days, please email us here with your order number and we will look into it for you.
can I cancel or modify my order after I’ve placed it?
orders cannot be cancelled or modified after they’ve been placed. please message us here for assistance with the return process.
what is alott’s return policy?
you have 15 days to return an item from the date you received it. to be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. your item must be in the original packaging. please email us here and we will confirm the return address. we will refund the return postage only if the item is faulty or damaged.
can I get a refund?
if your item arrives faulty, you can absolutely get a refund. your item should be returned within 15 days of purchase. we will confirm that it is indeed faulty and then we will initiate a refund (or exchange) within 5-10 business days. confirm the return address. we will refund the return postage only if the item is faulty or damaged.
what if my product arrives damaged, broken, or spilled?
if your alott product/ order arrives broken or damaged, please contact us here with your order number and a photo of the damaged item, and we will have a replacement shipped out to you right away.
products
what does ’100% natural’ mean exactly?
our products are made using carefully selected natural ingredients. we only use safe, clean, naturally-derived ingredients and avoid all irritating and harmful conventional chemicals, such as GM ingredients, parabens, SLS, silicones & mineral oils, artificial colours or fragrance.
why does natural shampoo not lather as much as other shampoos?
lather is typically produced by foaming agents and emulsifiers which are chemicals. but our shampoos are chemical-free and contain only natural ingredients, so they do not produce as much lather.
my hair feels greasy – what’s that all about?
don’t worry, this is very normal when switching to a natural shampoo and will only last a few washes as your hair oils adjust. be sure to rinse thoroughly and stick with it: your hair (and the planet) will be better for it.
where are alott products made?
all our products are handmade in small batches in the united kingdom.
do you test on animals?
never. we do not test on animals and our products comply with all cosmetic safety regulations.
are alott products vegan?
yes. our products are plant-based and free from all animal-derived ingredients such as lanolin, beeswax, carmine and more.
are alott products organic?
we are currently in the process of getting our certified organic status.
when will new products be launching?
we’ll be coming out with new products in 2021. sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates from alott.
are alott products for men or women?
our products are gender-neutral.
packaging
is alott packaging recyclable?
our aluminium bottles can be safely refilled and reused until the time comes to recycle them. our refill pouches can be returned to us free of charge and we will recycle them for you. see here for more details on that. the one bit of our packaging that is not yet recyclable is the plastic pump, but we’re working on it. in the meantime, please re-use the pump if you can so at least it isn’t single-use plastic.
our shampoo bar boxes are made of recycled and recyclable kraft. all our shipping boxes and promotional materials are made of recycled and recyclable kraft.
sustainability is a core pillar of our brand. we are members of 1% for the planet (see below) and we’re taking steps to further minimize our impact. this is an ongoing work-in-progress.

1% for the planet connects members with high-impact nonprofit partners that align with their values. you can find out more about them here. for us, we’re committed to helping to reduce single-use plastic and our 1% donations are going towards reducing ocean plastic around the uk coastline.

we have chosen manchester mind as our first mental health charity partner. you can find out more about them here. we’ll be donating 5% of sales of our everyday shampoo to support manchester mind throughout 2021.
